What is going on
Everyone who has opened a fridge at midnight knows the light and the hum; this one has decided to be a garden instead. The vines spill out of the door and down to the floor, the stickers on the side say Good Things Grow Here and Same Fresh Magic, and the fox has found the warmest shelf. The room is drawn in pale blue pencil with a square of window light on the wall, and the whole picture is quiet.
How to look at it
Look inside the fridge shelf by shelf: moon and fox at the top, flowers and a vase in the middle, lemons and lavender in the door. Then let the eye out along the vine to the rug and the bowl of cherries, which is the one thing in the picture that is actually food. The blue wall takes up half the picture and is drawn in tiny strokes; it is the night the fridge is keeping.
