What is going on

Nothing more than the title says. The picture is cropped so close that the two bodies become two colours, green and pink, with the pale wall as the only third thing. Her face is the single place where the paint turns to skin, and it is painted with care: the closed eye, the flush on the cheek, the small tension of a hand at his back.

How to look at it

Start at the face, because it is the only face, and then follow the direction of the brushstrokes. On the green shirt they run diagonally with the fabric, thick and broken; on the pink shirt they turn to follow the fold of her shoulder. The paint is doing what the arms are doing. Stand back and it becomes a simple shape, two ovals leaning together, which is why it works at the size of a wall.
